Design That Made Literacy More Accessible—and an Exit More Lucrative
Balance has collaborated on much of Playaway Products' award-winning product line that promotes literacy and makes digital content accessible to everyone. The combination of Balance’s HCD and design-for-manufacturing skills with Playaway’s content and technology expertise has resulted in many huge wins. Their award-winning Wonderbook and Playaway are now officially certified by CAST for alignment with the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, and are the only two physical products in the market to ever be certified. In 2023, Playaway was successfully acquired by Penguin Random House with the ability to retain independent operations.
