Diebold — Branch of the Future 2.0

Following tremendous success at the 2006 BAI Retail Show in Las Vegas and ongoing favorable reviews of “Version 1.0” of the Branch of the Future concept situated in Diebold’s Global Solutions Center, Diebold asked us the unavoidable question — “What’s next?”

With the original conceptual bank branch environment being the proverbial hard act to follow, Balance and Diebold once again joined forces to bring the already cutting-edge BOTF to the next level.

Balance and Diebold’s Advanced Technology Group cooperatively approached conceptual issues ranging from user experience, aesthetics, technology embodiment and application, all the way through to the reality of ergonomics, materials and prototype fabrication.

Through collaboration with our Tradeshow Fabrication partner, Benchmark Craftsmen, Version 2.0 of the Branch of the Future became a design-and-technology-filled 15'×25' reality. This stunning display of Industrial design, combined with Hollywood-rivaling user interface experience made an encore appearance at the BAI retail show in October of 2007. Following consecutive, invitation-only demonstrations, there was notable interest and excitement from key industry players and show attendees—not to mention Diebold management.

Today, the future branch environment resides, in its retrofitted state, in the entryway of Diebold’s Global Solutions Center. The BOTF is being utilized for demonstration on a daily basis as testament to Diebold’s continuing effort to be the most innovative in its field. As their primary industrial design consultancy, we look forward to being asked again — “What’s next?”
